Andrew (Andy) Kirk McKnight, 60, of Foster died surrounded by his loving family at home.
Born June 6, 1964 to (late) parents Peter and Joan-Sandra McKnight, and brother to David McKnight, Andrew Kirk McKnight left this world November 20, 2024.
He was loved by all and made friends everywhere he went. More accurately, you were more likely family than friend as Andy would give you the shirt off his back.
An avid musician, Andy played trombone and piano. He was the keyboard player for many years in a Pink Floyd tribute band. There was never a time that music wasn’t heard flowing through the house.
Andy and his friends would travel to see band tours, hike and camp, and even get together yearly to celebrate their common love of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Ever the beer lover, his favorite hangout as a Mug Club member was Trinity Brewhouse in Providence, where he even had a beer named after him: McKnight Scotch Ale.
He was the most kind-hearted, smart, sweet, and generous person around. Married for 23 wonderful years, Andy is survived by his wife Deb, whom his love for could not compare.
Andy is also survived by his sons Nick and Kevin, daughter Leanne, daughter-in-laws Allison, Cassandra, and Monica, and grandson Oleander.
There will not be any traditional services scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donating in Andy’s honor to The Mike Schiavone Organization, whose mission is to support young adults and school age children in their musical adventures in the New England area.
Donations can be sent to:
The Mike Schiavone Non-Profit Organization LLC
87 Louise Drive
Tiverton RI ,02878
Services will be private.
Arrangements entrusted to Skeffington Funeral Home and Cremations, 925 Chalkstone Avenue, Providence.
